Samsung, BOE and Tianma are competing to deliver OLED screens for the iPhone SE 4.

Reports have revealed that Apple will launch the next generation iPhone SE, temporarily called the iPhone SE 4, using OLED displays.

According to The Elec (Korea), Samsung, BOE and Tianma are competing to supply the backgrounds for Apple’s new devices. Samsung offers the lowest price of about $30. The BOE is about $35, the Tianma is $40. Apple, however, objected and offered a price of around $20.

The prices given by the three screen makers for the new iPhone SE are significantly lower than the cost that Apple charges for the screen of the iPhone 15 (from 80 to 120USD).

Samsung has the advantage of being the main supplier of OLED displays for the iPhone lifespan, producing screens for four iPhone 15s and four iPhone 16s. Therefore, the company is highly likely to reduce the price to meet the iPhone SE 4.

Meanwhile, if the price goes down on Apple’s offer, the BOE might have trouble competing.

And Tianma is a relatively unpopular screen maker from China. They’re only expecting at least a fraction of the iPhone 4 SE screen orders from Apple. Supply chain diversification also helps companies reduce costs, so it does not rule out the possibility that Apple will also choose Tianma.

According to a recent report, the iPhone SE 4 is already available in Apple’s product range. The company is entering a phase of advanced development and is in the process of finalizing the selection of component suppliers.
