Last month, Nintendo piqued many people’s curiosity when they registered a hardware product with the FCC in preparation for market release. Some people thought they would soon release the next version of the Switch, but it turned out to be a hardware device… an alarm clock combined with Wi-Fi and motion sensors.
The highlight of this clock is the alarm sound. According to Nintendo, it will take 35 music tracks from 5 popular games on the Switch: Breath of the Wild; Pikmin 4; Splatoon 3; Super Mario Odyssey; and Ring Fit Adventure. If you have a Nintendo account, you can connect and will be able to get more music from the games Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 in the near future.
Regarding the sleep tracking function through motion sensors, Nintendo describes it as a way to assess how much you toss and turn while sleeping. From there, set the alarm tone according to the game music you have chosen and have the ability to switch between the Regular or Gentle modes. In Regular mode, the alarm will gradually become stronger when it detects that you are still lying in bed, while in Gentle mode, the alarm music will remain at a steady level. Traditional alarm clocks have a button to hit to turn them off, and Alarmo will also have this button, which will replace the Snooze mode, allowing you to delay the alarm according to a pre-selected time. You can also play some gentle music to relax before drifting off to sleep.
Sounds interesting, but the price isn’t great at $99.99, true to Nintendo’s tradition of milking customers 😁
Alarmo is expected to be sold early next year, with those who have a Nintendo account being able to purchase it on the shop earlier.
